Apple MagSafe cardholder with Latitude support
Along with the iPhone 13, Apple released a MagSafe wallet case with Latitude support. Let’s figure out how the new accessory looks and works.
Along with the announcement of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro, an updated MagSafe wallet case appeared in the Apple Store. The new accessory differs from last year’s version in its Latitude support; you won’t find any changes even in the product description.
Let’s figure out how this function works in the case of a MagSafe wallet and what limitations it has. In terms of design, the new iPhone wallet case looks exactly the same as last year’s models. The accessory is made of leather and is available in different colors. However, as before, it is attached to the back of the iPhone using MagSafe. This means that the wallet is only compatible with iPhone 12 and iPhone 13. The dimensions of the accessory have also not changed. It can hold up to three plastic cards.
As for the “strength” with which the wallet case is held on the back of the smartphone, it remains at the same level. The accessory is removed with noticeable effort. However, if you try to put an iPhone with a MagSafe wallet in a narrow pocket, the magnets are unlikely to be able to hold the wallet case. A key feature of the new accessory is the ability to search for it through the Latitude app. However, in the case of the MagSafe wallet, the function does not work quite as originally expected.
When the wallet case is first connected to an iPhone, users will be able to add it to the Find My app and track the accessory’s location on a map. However, this option will only work if the wallet is attached to the iPhone. Essentially, the accessory cannot share its location on its own. This function lies on the “connected” iPhone. If you disconnect the MagSafe wallet from the paired smartphone, then within a minute the user will receive a notification that the accessory is lost. And the last location of the wallet will be displayed on the map.
This feature will not allow you to find the accessory if it was stolen. But if someone tries to connect a lost MagSafe wallet to an iPhone, all the contact information of the owner of the accessory will appear on the gadget’s screen.
The disadvantages of the new MagSafe wallet case also include the fact that a message about the loss of an accessory may appear even if the wallet is located next to the smartphone, but is not connected to it. For example, in cases when you remove it in a store in order to take out and pay with one of the cards. If you don’t connect your wallet to your iPhone within a minute, it will start signaling that it’s lost.
You can purchase the updated MagSafe wallet case for iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 for $59. The accessory is available in five colors – from light Golden Brown to dark called Midnight. Thanks to the new option, Apple’s new branded accessory stands out from its analogues. Over the past year, third-party manufacturers have released quite a few MagSafe wallets. However, none of them have a search function. In most cases, third-party manufacturers tried to attract the attention of users with an unusual shape, size, or additional features. For example, the MagSafe wallet from MOFT can be used not only to store cards, but also act as a stand. Moreover, the accessory is capable of holding the iPhone both vertically and horizontally
