Nix Biosensors announced that it has been named a CES 2023 Innovation Awards honoree in the Digital Health category for its first consumer product, the Hydration Biosensor. The announcement comes ahead of CES 2023, the world’s most influential technology event, which will take place from January 5 to 8 in Las Vegas, USA.
The CES Innovation Awards program is an annual competition that recognizes outstanding design and engineering in 28 consumer technology categories. A jury of industry experts including media, designers, engineers and others reviewed the entries based on innovation, engineering and functionality, aesthetics and design. It should be noted that this year a record number of applications were submitted to the CES Innovation Awards competition – more than 2,100.

The Hydration Biosensor, which is available for pre-order now and will ship in December, is a consumer biometric device that provides personal hydration monitoring by analyzing sweat and telling the user in real time when, what and how much to drink. A small patch applied to the skin reads biomarkers without the use of needles, detecting fluid loss, electrolytes and more. During vigorous exercise, when the user is actively sweating, this disposable patch collects and reads sweat readings every second. The sensor integrates with your phone, Apple Watch and Garmin, or cycling computer. The device transmits data to the Nix app in real time and recharges between workouts.
The hydration biosensor weighs less than 15 grams and is similar in size to the smart watch familiar to many. The electronic module is rugged, reusable and designed to last a long time.
The Nix app analyzes a user’s personal sweat profile, providing actionable insights during a workout and helping prepare for the next one. The system allows you to determine your personal sweat rate, rate of electrolyte loss and a range of sweat composition data. The Nix Index, calculated in the application, allows you to correlate measured data with environmental conditions.
The app also provides recommendations for fluid and electrolyte needs for your workout based on historical data in specific conditions. At the same time, it allows you to select a hydration product according to the composition of the user’s sweat or recommends mixing a customized liquid composition with your favorite product.
The battery life of the device is 24 hours.
Initially, the Nix hydration biosensor is intended primarily for athletes to monitor endurance, and in the future it may find application in team sports, in the military field and among workers
